Letter From Camp Director

What an incredible honor to be named Camp Director! Camp Stella Maris has played an incredible role in my life and I am very excited to help lead us on our journey.

For those of you who I haven't met, I would like to take a minute to tell you about myself. My CSM journey began in 1999 as a member of the kitchen staff. Matt Flanigan, Executive Director at the time, told me "I think you'll be around here for many years." At the time I thought he was crazy to think that. Turns out, he was right! I spent 7 amazing summers as a member of the summer staff in many different positions. I learned a great deal from many different talented people.
In 2006, I began working year-round as the Director of Programming. After countless field trips, retreats and weekend camps my journey continues as the Camp Director.

At camp, my favorite things to do are to watch and play GaGa, teach kids to ski or kneeboard and facilitate high and low ropes activities! Outside of camp, I love playing hockey and beach volleyball, and also record music. I'm very excited to be working on a new album for CSM right now!

Now that you've heard a bit about me, it's my turn to talk about everyone else! I hope to step in and continue the great traditions that have been passed down for generations at CSM. I will do everything in my power to ensure our energetic, talented and responsible staff will be able to be the best camp counselors your child has ever seen! We have an amazing staff lined up for 2010 and I cannot wait for you to meet them.

Finally, I would like to thank a few people that have helped me along the way. Most importantly, the campers! Without you, camp would not be camp. It is amazing how hard it is to go more than 10 minutes during the summer without smiling so big it hurts. Also, I'd like to thank all the staff that I've worked with over the past 11 summers. You help make the CSM community incredible! Thank you to all of the great retreat groups and their leaders for working with me the past 4+ years. It's truly an honor to work with a group of such dedicated folks! Finally, thank you to all of the year round staff that keep camp running 12-months a year!
